It was quite merry with Frano in the primary school Miroslav Krleža in Zagreb. This time, the famous TV host Frano Ridjan did not sing, but told the pupils whoa are participating in the project Choose Sport a nice story about Jigoro Kano. This was the true story of a small Japanese guy who wanted to become big and strong and so became a judo contestant. He became the father of judo and made it into an Olympic sport. And the pupils in the school were thrilled with judo and judo demonstrators who paid them a visit together with Frano.

The goal of the project Choose Sport is mass inclusion of children into sport, and the creation of habits of long term involvement with sport. The project addresses the general population of school children, but its target group are children in adverse social standing and thus in risk of social exclusion (children with unemployed parents, whose parents receive children’s benefits, without appropriate parenting, those from single parent families, from families with three or more children, and those children with behavioral issues). The children are given free memberships in the judo clubs of the Zagreb Judo Union: the judo club “Lika“ and the judo club “Zagreb,“ where they also receive free sports equipment – a judo kimono.

The implementation of the project is co-financed by EU, from the European Social Fund.
