She chose taekwondo. Take a look at this taekwondo girl: doesn’t she deserve an A? She is Anđela Benić, and is in 2.c class in the Zagreb primary school Kralj Tomislav, and she trains in the taekwondo club Čigra. In her school, the project Choose Sport is being implemented, and Paula Anđela tried really hard to show to her class her sport – taekwondo. She first had to dress up in all of the gear, and next she read to her friends and essay on the sport (that she had written herself), and that she briskly exhibited a leg kick – and what it all looks like in real action. Finally, her classroom friends tried for themselves what they saw. The girls were braver that the boys and tried the move Cure Paula Anđela had shown first. This was a fun day in the primary school Kralj Tomislav. She was helped by the taekwondo coach Azra Zukanović  and the daycare teacher Martina Mišković.

The goal of the project Choose Sport is mass inclusion of children into sport, and the creation of habits of long term involvement with sport. The project addresses the general population of school children, but its target group are children in adverse social standing and thus in risk of social exclusion (children with unemployed parents, whose parents receive children’s benefits, without appropriate parenting, those from single parent families, from families with three or more children, and those children with behavioral issues). The children are given free memberships in the judo clubs of the Zagreb Judo Union: the judo club “Lika“ and the judo club “Zagreb,“ where they also receive free sports equipment – a judo kimono.

The implementation of the project is co-financed by EU, from the European Social Fund.
