The pupils of class 4c of the primary school Kajzerica have implemented the Choose Sport project with the teacher Vanessa Golubić and this is her impression: “The project enables the pupils to acquire basic theoretical knowledge of sport in a fun way, ranging from the historical development of individual sports to contemporary versions of them, and it further motivates them to pick one of the sports for themselves. In the classroom, we used the picture books Kid Athletes, which are, in terms of content and visual aids, appropriate for the age of pupils and they indeed got them interested for the implementation of the project. Characters close to their peers led them through the coursework, as well as interesting introductory tales. The picture books were exceptionally well conceptualized and suitable illustrations bring to life each individual sport. In the gym, we prepared a brief demonstration of sports that some of the pupils from our class already do. Each sport was followed by a verbal explanation from the pupil. In the class Visual Arts, we picked a sport we would like to do in the future, and clipped the art by pupils into an interesting picture book. The evaluation sheets showed expected results. The pupils found the project very interesting and fun, they learnt a lot about sport, and were thrilled by accompanying picture books. Most children who do not do sports chose some of the sports presented by the project. And they chose sport!”
